Girls of Distinction – June 7This event honors Girl Scout Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners and is free for all girls and their families to attend. Expected attendance is approximately 1,000 girls and aduts and the events will be held at the Indianapolis Marriott, Downtown. “On My Honor” History of Girl Scouts exhibit at the Indiana State Museum – October 25-December 14A 4,000 square foot exhibit featuring 95 years of Girl Scouts history. Visitors will learn about the history of Girl Scouts, and will observe a camp reenactment scene with an original tent from the WWII era. Special programs are planned for the opening and closing of the exhibit, including a donor reception for our corporate sponsors. This exhibit is expected to host between 50,000 and 100,000 visitors from throughout the region. Girl Scout Leadership Institute with special performance by Radio Disney recording artist Keke Palmer – Oct. 29 – Oct. 30The inaugural Girl Scout Leadership Institute is part of the leadership development program for girls in grades 6-12 and will host 2000 girls from around the state of Indiana and the country. This year’s theme is Girl Scouts Can Lead Anywhere: Live Healthy, Lead Healthy. GSLI will be held at the Indiana Convention Center and RCA Dome and the Keke Palmer concert will be held at Victory Field. 2008 Girl Scout National Council Session/51st Convention – Oct. 30 – Nov. 2More than 15,000 adult Girl Scouts, volunteers, and guests will gather from all over the United States and the world to conduct national business and celebrate Girl Scouting at the Indiana Convention Center and RCA Dome. The convention will have an estimated economic impact of $10 million for the city of Indianapolis. |
