Girl program frequently asked questions

Do I need to participate in both opening and closing ceremonies or just one?

  • Based upon information from GSUSA, selected participants may be a part of either the opening or closing ceremonies or possibly both depending on the number of girls registering. We want to give every girl the opportunity to participate in this once in a lifetime event.

If I want to participate, do I need to be a registered Girl Scout?

  • Selected participants must be registered no later than September 15 for the 2008-2009 membership year.

If I participate in the ceremony what will I wear?

  • Selected participants must be willing to secure an official, age appropriate Girl Scout uniform and/or other attire as required. Khaki pants and a white collared shirt with an official sash or vest will constitute as an official uniform.

Besides the girl program application, what other paperwork will I need to complete?

  • All selected participants must sign a photo release permission form.

If I decide to participate, what type of commitment will this entail?

  • All selected participants must be available for rehearsal practice on August 9, September 27, and October 25. August 9 and September 27 practices will be held at Hamilton County Fair Grounds, 2003 Pleasant Street, Noblesville, IN. October 25 practice will be held at Le Gore Boys and Girls Club, 5528 W Minnesota Street, Indianapolis, IN 46241.
    • Practice times for opening ceremony participants: 10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m. for all dates listed above
    • Practice times for closing ceremony participants: 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. for all dates listed above

Can my parents come watch the performance, and if so, will there be a fee?

  • No fee will be charged for parents to see their daughter(s) perform at the opening and/or closing ceremony.

How will I learn the choreography necessary to perform during the opening and closing ceremonies?

  • The opening and closing ceremony performances will be arranged by a professional group.

Once I submit the initial girl program application, what do I do next?

  • Additional information will be sent to participants once we receive the girl program application.
